Hello: I sent in my absentee ballot yesterday. Two points:
The San Diego County Registrar misinformed me about postage. The voter must provide two (2!) stamps. Also, the ballot consists of four (4!) closely spaced 11x17 pages printed on two pieces of heavy paper.
Even after I had done a lot of homework and preparation, it took 30-45 minutes to mark up the ballots.
For regular voting: As many people don’t make their decisions until they show up at the polling place, I expect there to be considerable lines in the morning of 11/8.
